First time in English. PL and CL analysis.
Hello to all of you readers!
I am super-happy to write to you today for the first time in English. This will be a trial of what the blog could be if I were to write only in English. This week’s blog post will cover my reaction to the dramatics of Mondays’ games in the Premier League and also the Champions League semi final games. I will mention the happy occasion when Chelsea won. Then I will preview the upcoming weekend with the 36th match day in the league.

On Monday, there were three interesting games taking place in the battle for survival. Leicester lost 5-3 at Fulham, Nottingham won 4-3 against Southampton and Brighton lost 5-1 at home to Everton. As you can see from the scorelines, there were a lot of goals and a large chunk of drama. Most impressive was Everton that produced good football at a crucial time. They now sit above the relegation zone with two points. This will bring hope and new belief to the blue side of Mersey in hopes of survival. On the other side, me and many others were again disappointed in Leicester for being so weak. They played a Fulham side who have very little to play for and were outclassed for most of the game. Their defensive structure really needs a review in the summer if they stay up. Nottingham Forest on their part will be very happy with a win against Saints and now they only need two draws from the last three games to feel safe, that would be my qualified guess.

I was a happy man on Saturday for the first time in a while. At least when it comes to football results. My beloved Chelsea finally won a game of football, against Bournemouth. That was a first in eleven games in all competitions. It did mean my prediction from last week was wrong but I will by more than happy to be wrong on that occasion. There were reports from the game that Noni Madueke impressed. The new signing from PSV has not gotten many chances to play but has now scored against Arsenal and played well on the road again on Saturday. Joao Felix was one of the goal scorers, scoring the final 3-1 goal late. His situation in the club is delicate. He is on loan from Athletico Madrid but it is rumored that he wants to stay permanently. It will be interesting to see how that story develops.

The Champions League semi finals got started on Tuesday with Real Madrid playing Manchester City. That match had those extra sparks that only european nights bring. High energy and great individual plays, showcased by the two goals from Vinicius and De Bruyne. City will have the advantage in the second leg with Haaland not performing at his best in the first leg and still getting a draw. The feeling is that these two teams should be the finalists if the draw for the semis would have been different, because the team that wins that semi final match-up will play the winner of AC Milan and Inter. That game ended with a 2-0 win to Inter. The general consensus regarding AC Milan is that they missed their star Rafael Leao a lot. He needs to play 90 minutes in the second leg if Milan will have a chance to turn the tide. I will admit my knowledge of the Serie A is not on par with my knowledge of the PL. I do know that Napoli have secured the Scudetto and that Italian team have struggled to keep up with the money influx to the Premier League.

Tomorrow there will be action again in the Premier League. Sadly only three match days remain of the season. There are very important games coming up with still everything to play for. The games I would be looking out for are Sundays’ fixtures. Both Man City and Arsenal play and both will not be taking any game lightly with only three games to play (four for Man City).
